Employment Programs

Supported Engagement

Supported Engagement helps adults resolve barriers, transition to education programs and locate employment.  Supported Engagement is up to eighteen months in length with intensive case management, transportation assistance for program activities, supportive services and incentives.  Supported Engagement can also assist participants with funding for drivers education and eyeglasses/hearing aids.Training at Career Link

Eligibility for Supported Engagement Program:

Eligible adults who are receiving TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) and/or have an 8th grade education or less and are enrolled in the Maximizing Participation Program (MPP) through the Westmoreland County Assistance Office.

Supported Work

Two graduates of WHO's employment training program, Jacqueline Marol  and Rebecca Peddicord, proudly display their certificates. Supported Work assists adults to develop and reach goals of employment and/or education. The goal of the program is to provide a positive and gradual introduction to work. The expected outcome is job placement into unsubsidized employment for at least 30 hours per week and paying at least minimum wage.

Supported Work is a 6 to 9 month program which involves individual case management, supportive services, and incentives. Participants are taught various employment skills such as:

  • Resume writing
  • Job Search Techniques
  • Interviewing Skills
  • Vocational Educational Training
  • Completing Applications

Eligibility for Supported Work Program:

Individuals must be currently receiving TANF and have an active case with the Westmoreland County Assistance Office. Case Workers from the County Assistance office will refer participants to the program.
